You see the top coat; the real work is underneath: protection, repairs, sanding, primer. Your estimate lists each of them line by line, and nothing is added at the visit.

Sample work plan for a 3+1 flat. The crew arrives at the same time every morning and leaves the home liveable every evening.
Furniture is moved to the middle and covered, floors are papered, frames are taped. Cracks and holes are filled with plaster and filler.
Filled surfaces are sanded and dusted. Primer makes the paint grip the wall; the first coat goes on in the afternoon.
Second coat, touch-ups, tape removed, sockets refitted. After a basic clean we walk through the rooms together.
Timings are examples; the final plan is given in writing at the visit.
Each line starts with the colour of its layer. Work marked “included” is in the price. Extras are added only if you choose them; what we can’t know yet, such as damp, is shown as “at the visit”, not as a figure.

No. A painter comes to your home, spends about 30 minutes looking at and measuring the walls, then narrows the range to one price in writing.
We do. Furniture is moved to the middle of the room and covered, and floors are protected with paper. This is part of the price.
Yes. Pick one of the sample colours in the quote, or choose together at the visit. Washable matt interior paint is included in the price.
Yes. Each evening the room we worked in is tidied and the tape stays in place; we carry on at the same time the next morning. We use water-based paint, so the smell is gone within a day.
We don’t price it before finding the cause. The quote shows it as “at the visit”; at the visit we write the cause and the fix as a separate line.
Choose your home size and rooms; the estimate appears straight away, with every included layer.
